As the numbers of channels grow, it would be nice to have the opportunity to list the channels in a dropdown.

Good idea; we'll be sure to include this is an update within the next week or so. We'll basically allow you to choose if the channel block displays a list (as now) or a drop-down.

Thanks, that's great.

It pushes down the content in the center row though. Probably because the dropdown is wider than the the rest of the left menu. Perhaps only an issue for me because of our customization?

Yeah, you've got yourself a pretty tight sidebar. The solution is a bit of CSS like this:

.sidebar-channels select {width:145px;}

Just a little suggestion to improve usability:
Can you add "Channels" as the first option with no action on it? Otherwise you can select the first channel.

@Rickard, good point -- we've fixed that (may require you to re-save the block to overwrite caching).
